For someone with a glass shower: a shower squeegee

A squeegee is the gift for anyone who wipes down a glass shower door, or means to. Pulled from top to bottom over wet glass, the silicone blade moves water and soap film down to the drain, so less of it dries on the glass. It takes a few pulls after each shower, and the squeegee hangs right where it is used: an adhesive hook and an over-door hook come in the box.

Pick the width by the glass. According to the listing, the 12 in blade clears a standard glass shower door in 2 to 3 pulls, which makes it the everyday size. The 10 in is the small one for mirrors and windows, and the 14 in the large one for walk-in shower glass. The frame is stainless steel in gold, black or silver, so you can match it to the shower trim.

For a renter: suction shower hooks

Hooks that go up without screws suit anyone who can’t drill into the tile: a renter, a student, a guest room. Each hook sits on a suction cup with a locking knob. Clean and dry the surface, press the cup flat and turn the knob clockwise to lock it; turn it back to move the hook. Be honest about the wall before you give them: suction hooks do not hold on wood, painted walls, textured or matte tile, or across a grout line. For a guest bathroom, a small bathroom or an RV: a silicone toilet brush set

A guest bathroom is often the last room to get a proper toilet brush. Our silicone set is compact: the rounded cup is about 4.1 in high and 3.4 to 3.5 in wide, and the whole set stands about 15 in tall with the brush in, so it fits a narrow corner or an RV bathroom. The flexible silicone head follows the curves of the bowl, rinses clean in the flush and drips dry in its cup. The handle and the cup are plastic in one color: white, black or cream.

For the one who fixes things: faucet aerators

A faucet that splashes or runs unevenly often just needs a new aerator, the small screen at the tip of the spout (sometimes a clean is enough: see how to clean a faucet aerator). This pack has 4 chrome aerators, enough for the bathroom, the kitchen and a spare, and each screws on by hand. They have a 15/16 in (24 mm) male thread, the outside thread, and a 2.2 GPM flow.

Will suction hooks stay up on any wall?

No. They are made for smooth, non-porous glass, mirror and glazed tile. On wood, painted walls, textured tile or across a grout line the suction cup cannot seal.

Which squeegee size should I give if I don’t know the shower?
